În cursul zilei de ieri site-ul MIT a fost atacat și a primit un nou homepage în care grupul Anonymous a lansat un mesaj în memoria morții lui Aaron Swartz (cunoscut hacker și unul dintre cei ce au pus bazele reddit) ce s-a sinucis zilele trecute ca urmare a unei investigații agresive a poliției.
Contul de Twitter YourAnonNews a lansat știrea prin care s-a reușit defacement-ul site-ului MIT. Mesajul trimis inițial pe site-ul MIT a ajuns și pe pastebin:
“Whether or not the government contributed to his suicide, the government’s prosecution of Swartz was a grotesque miscarriage of justice, a distorted and perverse shadow of the justice that Aaron died fighting for—freeing the publicly-funded scientific literature from a publishing system that makes it inaccessible to most of those who paid for it—enabling the collective betterment of the world through the facilitation of sharing—an ideal that we should all support,”
Swartz s-a sinucis pe 11 ianuarie 2013 la vârsta de 26 de ani. Era bănuit că a sustras articole din baza de date JSTOR a MIT și ca urmare fusese deja anchetat.
